David Pereda is an award-winning author and college writing instructor living in Asheville, North Carolina. He is the regional director of Florida Writers Association's Western North Carolina division and the founder of Asheville Writing Enthusiasts (AWE).
His latest novel, Havana: Top Secret, published by Eternal Press, will be available in May 2009. It is the first in the mystery-thriller Havana series.
Pereda is a former consultant with global giant Booz Allen Hamilton, where he worked with the governments of Mexico, Venezuela and Qatar, among others.
Pereda has published three novels, Getting Filthy Rich, Havana Confidential and The Highest Hurdle. Two other completed manuscripts have garnered him rave reviews and literary awards: Who Killed Fidel Castro? and However Long the Night, formerly titled Beyond Midnight.

Pereda writes a monthly wine column for "Pasajero," the in-flight magazine for Venezuelan airline Aeropostal. He has published numerous articles, short stories and poems. Pereda is in discussion with a Hollywood producer about one of his new works becoming a movie.
In addition to his full-time writing and teaching careers, Pereda is an outstanding athlete who has won awards in international equestrian events and maintains records in track and field. He is a member of MENSA and speaks four languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese and French.
Pereda earned his MBA from Pepperdine University in California. He earned bachelor degrees in English literature and mathematics at the University of South Florida in Tampa.
He is the proud father of five children. Pereda and his wife, Mariate, an award-winning photographer, moved from the heart of Miami to the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains of Asheville, North Carolina.
