Who Killed Fidel Castro? Named Finalist in the 2007 Indie Excellence Book Awards
LOS ANGELES (April 27, 2007) – PubInsider.com, the premiere online magazine and publishing industry consulting firm, announced the winners and finalists of its
“NATIONAL 2007 INDIE EXCELLENCE 2007 BOOK AWARDS."
Jeff Bowen, president and publisher of PubInsider.com, said this year’s contest drew more than 700 entries.
“The 2007 results represent a phenomenal mix of books from a wide array of publishers throughout the United States and a healthy dose of newcomers to watch.” Bowen said.
Author David Pereda's book Who Killed Fidel Castro? was a finalist in the Mystery/Suspense/Thriller category. It is the second award within a year for Pereda, a former global management consultant.
As a finalist in the prestigious award, Pereda, who recently moved from Miami to Asheville, N.C., will get exposure to top literary agencies and publishers. Additionally, his award will be announced June 1 at one of the publishing industry's largest events, Book Expo America, in New York City.
Pereda won a second place Palm Literary Award a few months ago for another book in progress, Beyond Midnight.

David Pereda is an award-winning author and college writing instructor based in Asheville, N.C., USA.
His most recent book, Havana: Killing Castro, released in January 2010 and Havana: Top Secret, released in May 2009.
He is the regional director of the Florida Wrtiers Association's Western North Carolina division and founder of the Asheville Writing Enthusiasts (AWE). Pereda also is a member of MENSA, an accomplished international equestrian competitor and track athlete. He has won numerous awards for his writing
and has been praised for its intriguing plots and sharp dialogue.
